Government has given 'maximum security' to former Sri Lankan President - Minister

Thu, Mar 26, 2015, 12:24 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. Mar 25, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government Wednesday rejected the allegations that the government has not provided adequate security to the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Rajitha Senaratne said the Government has given 'maximum security' to the former President and confirmed that his security detail included 21 vehicles and 213 officers, including 108 Sri Lankan Army soldiers.

Rejecting an accusation made by the former President that his security had been reduced, Minister Senaratne recalled that Rajapaksa didn't provide any security to his predecessor Chandrika Bandaranaike and she had to go to the Supreme Court to get her security.
