Sun, Dec 28, 2014, 01:25 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.Dec 27, Colombo: Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel have been deployed in the Beruwala area Saturday following a clash between United National Party (UNP) and United People Freedom Alliance (UPFA) supporters, police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said.
According to the police three people have been injured in the clash which broke out Friday night after an election meeting for Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena.
Meanwhile, the election monitor, Center for Monitoring election Violence (CMEV) reported that the UPFA supporters had attacked former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and Provincial Councilor Ms. Hirunika Premachandra at about 10.00 pm Friday.
