Thu, Apr 2, 2015, 12:18 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. Apr 02, Colombo: Direct train services between Colombo and Thalaimannar on the newly reconstructed rail line for public will resume from today, Sri Lanka Railways officials said.
The segment of rail track between Medawchchiya and Thalaimannar was reconstructed with the assistance of India and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first train on the track from Thalaimannar on March 14.
The Indian Railway Construction Company Limited (IRCON) carried out the construction work of the project which was financed under a US$ 425 million credit facility from India.
