Sri Lankan President's intervention sought to stop hotel and golf course project in forest reserve
Wed, Feb 4, 2015, 12:51 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. Feb 04, Colombo: President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena has been asked by environmentalists to intervene to protect a key forest reserve in the country.
Center for Environmental and Natural Studies has called on the President to take immediate steps to halt the construction work of a hotel complex and golf course being carried out within the Soragune forest reserve in Haldummulla.
In a letter to the President, National Coordinator of the Center Ravindra Kariyawasam has pointed out that these constructions could cause a massive damage to the Soragune forest reserve.
