NEW DELHI, February 18: Sri Lankan Minister for Resettlement and Reconstruction DM Swaminathan will visit Jaffna next week to explore the possibility of returning more private land now under Army control in the Northern Province to its owners.
"I will be going to Jaffna on February 25 to meet provincial government leaders and military officials to explore how much private land that is now under Army control which can be returned to its owners," the suave minister told The Island here on Tuesday.
He was here as a member of the delegation that accompanied President Maithripala Sirisena on his state visit to India.
In keeping with the Sirisena Governments policy, Swaminathan announced last week that one thousand acres of private land that has been under Army control will be returned to its owners in Valikamam North in the northern part of the Jaffna Peninsula.
