Sri Lanka sets up task force to recover assets allegedly stolen by members of the previous regime
Thu, Mar 19, 2015, 08:12 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. Mar 19, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government has taken measures to set up a special presidential task force to recover billions of dollars of state assets stolen allegedly by the members of the previous regime.
Special Presidential Task Force on Recovery of State Assets proposed by Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has received cabinet approval to trace and recover more than a billion dollar of assets stashed away by certain members of the previous administration.
Addressing the weekly cabinet briefing Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Rajitha Senaratne today (19) said the investigators have traced more than a billion dollars in stolen public to a bank in Dubai.
