Mon, Jan 26, 2015, 12:52 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. Jan 25, Colombo: Residents of the Rathupaswala village in Weliweriya today (25) held a protest demonstration urging authorities to reinvestigate the deaths of three youths by the Army fire during a protest in 2013.
Speaking to the residents protesting Sunday, the Minister of Public Order John Amaratunga said the investigation on the incident would be reinitiated.
The incident gained wide publicity internationally as well as locally when the Sri Lanka army fired at a crowd staging a protest demanding to close a rubber glove factory alleged of polluting the ground water in the area.
