Sri Lanka's Sinhala Buddhist extremist group, Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) announced that the organization would field candidates to the next general election. The secretary of BBS Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero said the party would not however field Buddhist monks as candidates at the elections for the parliament, Provincial Councils or local governments. He said the candidates would be laymen.
