Kidnapped child found in Dambulla 10-months after
A two-year-old child who had been allegedly abducted by a beggar in Ambalangoda was found 10-months after from the Dambulla town, as a result of an intensive search mission launched by child’s grandmother, this morning (22).
The beggar (42) who said to have kidnapped the child at the Ambalangoda bus station has been taken into police custody. According to the police, the suspect had drugged the grandmother and later kidnapped the child, in December, 2013.
While police investigations are underway, the courageous grandmother has too launched a campaign in a bid to find her missing grandchild by visiting from police station to police station with photographs of the missing child.
“The woman has shown child’s photograph to a trishaw driver at the Dambulla town. It was he who in the first place recognized the child. Then we immediately arrested the beggar.
