Attempts to sabotage Sri Lanka's opposition presidential candidate's public rally in Matara
Thu, Dec 4, 2014, 11:10 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. Dec 04, Matara: Sri Lanka's common opposition presidential candidate Maithripala Sirisena participated in a massive public rally held in Matara today to show support to the opposition election campaign.
All political parties and civil organizations supporting the common candidate joined the public rally, held at the Uyanwatta Grounds in Matara today.
However, there was an attempt by a group to sabotage the rally organized by the United National Party (UNP) leadership council member Matara district MP Mangala Samaraweera, the party said.
The organizers said that some group has cut the connectors and disconnected power to the loudspeakers in the Uyanwatta Grounds in an attempt to disrupt the rally.
