This historic colonial era landmark in the Jaffna peninsula erected in 1892 during the British rule remained unattended for years during the war and was at the verge of dilapidation.
The tower was restored by the 5th Engineer Services Regiment of Sri Lanka Army under supervision of the Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka in an effort to preserve it for future generations as a symbol of old glory of Jaffna.
